Lengel Brothers Farm and Market

It takes alot to feed the nation and the world
(Mercer, Pennsylvania)

Spring days will soon be here

Spring is coming soon and the winter snow will turn to warm rain and dry windy days.  Planting time in the greenhouses are planned and waiting to start.  First there will be some colder season crops planted like peas, lettuce, radishes, turnips, kohlrobi, and kale.  Then come bell peppers and cumubers later in April.  Onion I hope to have in by the end of April in new raised beds at the farm.  Plans are in the making to get the two small buildings refilm and one of the bigger one done to house som more peas and beans.

This month I still have the farm to table conference in Pittsburgh to be at as a vendor.  I will be there maybe 2 days now instead of one.  Yesterday (March 16) I was at the Children Museum in Pittsburgh for the CSA Fair.  I made a lot of contacts there and also may be asked to put on a program later this year again.  April 13th I will be speaking at the Penn State Earth Fest in Sharon Pa.  Lots of things also going on the Mercer County Head Start Program and the Sharon School District KOOL kids  after school program.

We still have 45 openings for our CSA and the canning package I prepared for a new program has taken on strong interest so our membership is starting to climb.  Contact me if you are interested in a full or half share or the home canning or freezing package.  If taking a combine share and canning package there will be a discount of $25.00 dollars.
