Lambs are grown, steers are growing, chick is growing ... Yes, due to hungry coyotes and their pups last winter, the majority of our dozens of free-range chickens disappeared into the cold night, with only a few occasional feathers to remind us of their company. So, what remained was a rooster and a little white hen. They're a sweet little family with one talkative chick. Thankfully, our larger creatures survived the winter far better, with Nina the cow giving birth to a fine little guy and the ewes having many lambs this spring and summer. The farming cycle is coming to a close, with the lambs ready for butcher. They've fattened up well and eating like crazy. The steer's older brother born last year isn't ready to go quite yet.
