16th Annual Mid-Missouri Horse, Mule, & Ox Farming & Historical Crafts Days
Heritage crafts and old-tyme farming skills are highlighted in this 2-day family event that showcases a simpler life. Draft animal teams will be demonstrating "no gas needed" farming skills and offering wagon rides, as well as providing power for corn-grinding and sorghum pressing (weather permitting). Molasses cooking, spinning, natural dyeing, soapmaking, dry stone masonry, native plant identification & hikes, antique and vintage clothing, gourdcrafting, ropemaking, wild-fiber baskets, Indian artifacts, flintknapping, children's primitive games and toys, beekeeping, and much more (listing subject to change). Pleign-aire artists painting rural scenes on-site, and local author Walter Schlemper signing his autobiographical books about life on the farm. Rare livestock breeds on display, live bluegrass & mountain music. Real chuckwagon food, whole hog barbecue, kettle corn, plus other treats! More may be added as we get closer to the event weekend!
On Saturday, the 1st, hours are from 10 to 5. On Sunday, Oct. 2, the hours are from 10 to 3. Admission is $6 for ages 6 to adult, and ages five & under are free (no refunds)!. Please NO pets, NO alcohol, NO ATV's or the like. Wheelchairs and power wheelchairs are OK.
