my sister's farm
By: mercedes carlin (Mar 9, 2009)
Just so you know my bias... This is my sister and brother-in-law's farm. She and Ken have been farming organically for most of their adult lives--long before it was considered "hip" or "the thing to do". They sacrificed seriously to ensure the the integrity of their farm, its livestock and its produce. They believed in something and stayed with it despite naysayers and the financial challenges of being small in a very large, lucrative un-organic business. They believe in good food and the honesty and integrity it takes to produce it. You can trust them and the products they sell.
Here's to you, Kath and Ken. You are true representatitves of the independent spirit so cherished in this US of A.
Your sister--and admirer, Mercedes

I am not Kathleen's sister, but I second this review! And third and fourth. I just learned that Ken and Kathleen will no longer be vendors at the Cooperstown Farmers' Market, and I'm devastated. Everything I have ever bought from the Whites, from beef, pork and chicken to baked goods, eggs and vegetables, has been fabulous. They are wonderful farmers and just plain good people. Please tell me I'll still be able to buy their fabulous beef and pork!
