That traditional wisdom is put to good use in the production of our organic herbal bath and body care products. We make over 80 different products for the bath, body, and home--from bar soaps to body powders, to herbal deodorant, and many things in between!
And we are happy to share what we know! Nancy offers classes here at the farm and through several local community education programs. See our website for details.
Chickens at Shady Lane Farm are pastured on lush greens, enjoying bugs, fresh air and sunshine--a chicken's dream diet! We feed certified organic grains and closely monitor a healthy weight gain for our broilers. Heritage laying hens can be found scratching for bugs, pecking at dandelions and grass, soaking up sunshine, and fluffing in a dust bath. And when they get around to it, they find their way into the barn to produce an egg!
We believe that the modern advancements in food and body care products, although convenient and inexpensive, have done away with many of the benefits that were present in generations past. We're doing our part to preserve the health, purity and wholesomeness that home grown and hand made products had to offer "way back when." Our grandparents were farmers and producers in the 50's, 60's and 70's, and we are trying our best to follow in their footsteps--sustainable farming and gardening made sense back then, and it still does today.
We enjoy meeting and chatting with customers--it's always so encouraging to encounter folks who are trying hard to incorporate healthful food and body care products into their lifestyle. And it's exciting and fulfilling to be able to offer the "fruits of our labor" to help meet the need that exists in our community.
