We are a small family operation with 17 hens in our backyard. The girls have free range of the fruit orchard and are out on grass during the day. At night they put themselves to bed in their coop. We keep many heritage breeds to continue the rarer lines as well as breeds for their unique shell color (chocolate brown, green, blue, speckled).

They are offered 24 hour access to Modesto Mills organic layer crumble as well as whatever fruit and bugs they can forage and veggies from the garden.

Production depends upon them. We do not keep them under lights so certain seasons are slower than other. Spring & autumn are their best laying times. The heat of summer and the fewer hours of daylight in winter effect their productivity. They live out their lives here, even when no longer producing.

Products and Crops

We are a small family operation with 17 hens in our backyard. We started keeping chickens for fun, then realized the importance of a responsibly raised product that respects the birds' needs and hoped others would appreciate the same thing.

My husband built the coop with the help of an engineer friend, built to my design. It has raised many clutches of chicks, is safe at night from predators and open in the day for them to come and go as they please.

We are happy to supply anyone who is conscientious of where their food is coming from and want to know that the hens are kept as naturally as possible, fed an organic diet and not medicated.
