The 15th annual "Horse and Hound" Wine Festival

Enjoy wine from some of Virginia's finest wineries while listening to good music and visiting art, craft and food vendors. Virginia's most unique wine festival has numerous events throughout the day with horses and dogs as the primary attractions such as the rodeo demonstrations, lure course and muskrat racing. Families will enjoy this festival because it appeals to both young and old and we have a Kiddie Korral. The event takes place on the spacious and gracious grounds of Johnson's Orchards & Peaks of Otter Winery 1218 Elmos Rd, Bedford Va 24523 with spectacular Blue Ridge mountain views. 11am-6pm Patriotic Opening At noon we will have our Patriotic Opening with the presentation of flags on horseback, pledges and anthems. This is a very impressive event. There will be a variety of equine demonstrations throughout the day. Carriage rides and pony rides will be offered for a nominal fee. If you don't come as a horse-lover, you will leave as one. Muskrat Races This event uses the Jack Russell Terrier's highly developed prey drive to swim through water in pursuit of an artificial lure. Dogs of all shapes and sizes are invited to swim across the pond in pursuit of an artificial lure. There will be three divisions of competition: small, medium, and large dogs. The winner in each division will receive a trophy Rodeo Demonstrations This is an exciting new event that is put on by the Carrol - Wythe county wagon train members. Rodeo Demonstrations and education regarding American Quarter Horses such as barrel racing, colt training and roping. Kiddie Korral Supervised activities for children simulating rodeo games and quiet games as well throughout the day. Supervision by the staff and volunteers of Brook Hill Farm Rehabilitation and Rescue Part of the proceeds will benefit 501-3c organizations that benefit horses and dogs and are All-American Mutt Rescue, Brook Hill Farm Horse Rescue and Commonwealth Search & Rescue Tasters $20--Gen.
