Bird of the Hand Farm is an apple and herb farm. The farm is certified organic. In the spring the farm provides organic perennials in containers for sale. As the year progresses we sell some vegtables. Organic apples follow in the fall. The varieties we have available are MacInstosh, Cortland and Delicious. Many heirloom varieties are available such as: Roxbury Russet, Sops of Wine, Northern Spy, and Granny Smith. Other apple products are raw cider, applesauce, and apple jelly. At times great apple pies made with organic apples are available. A CSA program provides fall organic product to customers. This incluces, kale, squash, and herbs (basil, summer savory, parsley, and sage). All produce provided in the CSA is certified organic. The farm is landlocked so there is no on site farm stand. But all products are sold from our home farm stand in historic downtown Sterling at 33 School St. Please contact our website www.birdofthehandfarm.com to see what products and apple varieties are available.

Our health rests upon the health of our foods and soil. Bird of the Hand Farm is bringing you the best organic apple products. In Massachusetts, everyone says organic apples can not be grown, and there are certainly many challenges. The apples will not look like your imported organic apple from Australia or the Western U.S organic apples, but it is grown in Massachusetts. This important aspect leads to our food security and our ability to support ourselves in this changing world.
