The goats did an excellent job of weed control. They made it another winter, but there are only so many projects one family farm can tackle at a time. The demand for meat and milk was low and the fencing couldn't keep them out of the pig feed or the garden well enough. When the conservation reserve expires and livestock are allowed... maybe we can find thistle-loving hair sheep.
