Bluegrass Farmers Market

Fall will definitely be in the air this Saturday! Make sure you bundle up before you come to the market. Almost 90 degrees on Thursday and possible frost on Sunday...welcome to Kentucky! Lol I sure hope that we get to enjoy the beautiful fall weather before the really cold air moves in. Our spring was such a disappointment this year, so I am keeping my fingers crossed for some great fall days.

Fall also means we start seeing some new and wonderful items at the market. Pie pumpkins are spectacular! Sweet potatoes are not only good for you, they are delicious! I think the winter squash varieties have even more flavor than the summer ones! Cabbage is crisp and flavorful this time of the year! And, it's a great time to think about purchasing some extra beef and pork cuts for your freezer...think winter soups, stews and chili! Unfortunately, the cooler temps mean that the summer tomatoes, corn and green beans will be in short supply. I guess that's the price we pay for living in the great Commonwealth of Kentucky...embrace the changing seasons and enjoy what our farmers bring to the market fresh from their farms.

So, wear a jacket or sweatshirt and head out to one of our markets tomorrow to find nothing but homegrown or produced goodness! Remember, we guarantee that our members have grown, raised, baked or made everything that they sell. It's the least we can do for our customers. :)

RICHMOND RD.

OVERMAN'S BG FRUITS & VEGETABLES will be bringing probably the last of his tomatoes, yellow squash and zucchini. He'll also have his freshly harvested cabbage, cauliflower, beets and pumpkins! He'll have aged gourds too!

KELLY'S KOBE BEEF & HERMAN'S HAPPY HOGS is having a Customer Appreciation Day! Look for some great sales on 100% Wagyu " Kobe " beef ...1 pound plus rolls...buy five rolls at $5.00 each and get a sixth one FREE! Medium plus spice pork breakfast sausage patties...buy three at $3.50 each and get the fourth one FREE! And, the great news...all of their products are free of any antibiotics, growth hormones and nitrates!

JANE'S GARDEN FLOWERS & HERBS will be loaded down with beautiful fresh and colorful cut flowers...by the stem or the bouquet!

HERB'N RENEWAL will be bringing extra Chili Season'n...they sold out last week! Don't forget that their Rub'n Season Herb'n All takes the guesswork out of seasoning soups, stews and veggies! And, if you'd like that outdoor grilled flavor year round, try their Smoke'n Season! Of course, the crowd favorite, Good'n Garlicky will always be on hand! Don't forget the handcrafted, detergent free, soaps! And, the wonderful Zucchini, Apple'n Oat Thingies!

ON TAPP DAIRY will be arriving with various cuts of grass fed beef, pork, chicken, veal and those wonderful farm fresh eggs! Don't forget to ask Joseph about how he raises his cattle...you'll love it!

MCMAINE'S RIVERHAVEN FARM is hoping that Linda feels well enough to be at the market tomorrow. She had to miss the Thursday market because felt under the weather. Let's all hope that she feels well enough to join the rest of the farmers with her wonderful jams, jellies, 7 bean soup mix and a variety of hot and sweet peppers, winter squash, okra and eggplant. Hope we get to see her tomorrow!

AZUR RESTAURANT & PATIO

CLARK FARM had a problem on the farm and missed the Thursday market but plans to be back on Saturday with sweet potatoes, chestnuts, okra, sweet and hot peppers, eggplant and maybe even some Swiss chard! Let's hope the farm problems are solved and we get to see him tomorrow!

And, who knows what else you might find at either market!

We'll be set up in the parking lot of our sponsors, Pedal the Planet and Fast Signs. It's just a hop, skip and a jump outside of Man 'O War Blvd. Parking is right there so you don't have to drive around hunting for a spot to park. The parking lot is also paved and that makes it very stroller and wheelchair friendly! And, we love seeing your four-legged friends!
