Bluegrass Farmers Market

Well, it's that time of the year again...school is in session! That doesn't mean that the Bluegrass Farmers' Market closes...we're still open at both market locations and we will continue to stay open through at least October! That means you can still enjoy plenty of local products and fresh veggies! Tomorrow you'll be able to find corn, tomatoes, green beans, zucchini, squash, cucumbers, potatoes, eggplant, okra, peppers...both hot and sweet, melons, fresh cut herbs and flowers, handcrafted soaps, honey, herb seasoning, baked goods, beef, pork and so much more! A little news to share about tomorrow's Liquor Barn Hamburg market... Tomatoes, Etc. will be bringing a limited amount of heirloom tomatoes and peppers...it will be the first time that Roger has had anything to sell and folks sure have been asking about him. Yup, he'll be at the market tomorrow! Kelly's Kobe Beef & Herman's Happy Hogs will be running a Stock Up Your Freezer sale on pork sausage...sale priced at $3.50 a pound. “Kobe” burgers will be $5.00 a package! And, if you are going to Picnic With The Pops, don't forget fresh flowers for your table! Jane's Garden, Flowers & Herbs will have plenty available! Some great news from the folks at Herb'n Renewal...the long back ordered shea butter has finally arrived so you'll find a nice selection of their handcrafted soaps tomorrow! It looks like it is going to be a great day for the Tuesday market at Liquor Barn Hamburg...our farmers will be there from 3 until 6! Shoppers will be able to find tomatoes, corn, peppers (hot and sweet) green beans, eggplant, okra, edamame, watermelons, squash, baked goods, jams, honey, herbs and fresh cut flowers! Happy local eating! :)

It's time to celebrate farmers and the wonderful goodness that they bring to our tables...it's National Farmers Market week and the Bluegrass Farmers' Market is going to celebrate in a big way! Both Saturday market locations will have book signings by local Kentucky authors and of course, the topics will about Kentucky foods! The Liquor Barn Hamburg market location will have the Lexington Public Library on hand to tell folks about their upcoming programs. Music...can we say singing and dancing in the market aisles! Cooking demonstrations at both markets by the students at Sullivan University Culinary Arts Program...yes, they will be using market items! And, don't forget that some vendors offer samples of their great products. Look for market specials and freebies from some of our members too! So, what goodness will you find tomorrow? Sorry to be so late but I just found out that at least one farmer will be setting up this afternoon at our Azur Restaurant & Patio location in Beaumont Centre...they'll be there from 3 until 6! That's right...only two more weeks until our farmers get to celebrate National Farmers Market Week! The excitement starts on August 2nd and ends (so they say) on August 8th. We like to think that the Bluegrass Farmers' Market customers are excited all season long! Our farmers are bringing their homegrown goodness to the market each week!
