The place to be this Saturday is at the Bluegrass Farmers' Market! That's right...homegrown goodness will be in abundance. Look for spring offerings like lettuce, kale, chard, radishes, green onions and so much more. Now that it is almost summer, you'll be able to find the start of the summer crops...squash, zucchini, cucumbers and even some green tomatoes! Don't forget the beautiful flowers and plants!
Of course you can't forget the all season goodies like the baked goods, jams, jellies, herb seasoning, salsa, relishes, BBQ sauce, hand crafted soaps, cheese, eggs, lamb, beef and pork!
The best part? All of this goodness comes from our members and we guarantee that they grow, raise, make or bake everything that they sell! Support an honest to gosh farmer by shopping at the Bluegrass Farmers' Market!

Well, it's almost here...June! And, that means we'll be seeing more of the “summer” fruits and veggies to go along with our “spring” offerings. It's always one of my favorite times of the year. Once the zucchini starts showing up at the market, it means the corn and tomatoes can't be far behind! Yippee!
June also brings the closing of the school year. So, what do you do to keep those kids occupied during the summer months? How about some fun at your local library! The folks from the Eagle Creek Library will be at the Liquor Barn Hamburg and Beaumont Library will be at our Azur Restaurant & Patio market this Saturday. Stop by and find out what fun reading programs will be available this summer! A little more excitement at the Liquor Barn market...Roger and his “squeezebox” will be there to entertain everyone!
As I told everyone a few weeks ago, after six years of sharing the weekly market blog with you, I have decided that I really need to concentrate more on our farm and business. This will be my last market report. I am going to continue to share special market news, recipes, tips, etc. so check our Local Harvest page often. I thank you all for the support over the years, the comments, suggestions, etc. have helped us bring you a better market.
Signing off for the last time,
Karin, your friendly blog gal

The last Monday in May is a day of remembrance...a day when we proudly remember those brave men and women who gave their lives while serving in our armed forces. It is Memorial Day! Did you know that each Memorial Day at 3:00 pm there is a national moment of remembrance? Take time out of your busy day to remember our heroes.
Memorial Day is also the unofficial start of the summer season! I can't think of a better way to start the weekend out than a visit to the Bluegrass Farmers' Market! It's the best place in town to find guaranteed homegrown, raised, baked or made products for your Memorial Day gathering. Think asparagus, crisp lettuce, kale, onions and yes...even strawberries! Don't forget the beef, lamb and pork for that grilling. And, why not try some herb seasoning, delicious cheese, pepper jam and salsa on those burgers. Think home home baked deliciousness to finish your meal. Don't forget the beautiful and bright flowers to decorate your picnic table. One more thing...it is sort of the start of summer so you better get those tomato and veggie plants in the ground...flowers too!
So what goodness will you find at our markets this Saturday? Here's a bit to excite you! :)

Well folks, it is with a sad heart that I write what might be my last market blog. I just want you all to know how much I have enjoyed being welcomed into your computers! I realized that I was spending more time on the farmers market and not enough on our farm business. All great things must come to an end and I have decided to resign as the “marketing person” for the Bluegrass Farmers' Market. I promise that I will still be around and yes, we will still be at the market each Saturday if it is not raining!
Yes, I still believe in our mission to provide nothing but homegrown goodness to our customers...I just need to spend more time on our farm. Thank you all again for inviting me into your homes for all of these years. It has been my pleasure and I hope to see you all at our market in the coming months.
Karin, your soon to be ex blog gal!
Now, on to the important stuff! So, what will you find at the markets tomorrow? Here's a list of the information that I have received from our farmers...they must be busy planting because it's a bit short. Look for much more!
LIQUOR BARN HAMBURG
Herb'n Renewal will be bringing their wonderful hand blended herb seasoning, hand crafted soaps and those crowd favorites...Zucchini, Apple'n Oat Thingies! Remember that if it is raining, they will not be at the market...the packaging does not like wet weather.

Kelly's Kobe Beef and Herman's Happy Hogs will have freezers full of freshly processed pork including breakfast links, sausage patties, country ribs, pork chops, and ham, as well as bacon. Don't forget that fabulous Kobe beef and the farm fresh eggs!
Tomatoes, Etc. will probably be bringing the last of their heirloom tomato and pepper plants tomorrow. If you want your own plants...get them now! The supply is limited!

And, like I said...Heavenly Homestead Cheese just might make an appearance tomorrow!

We opened our newest location last Saturday at the Liquor Barn in Hamburg...I do believe that we were a hit! Many of our returning customers showed up and then we met quite a few new ones. I think this is going to be a great location because we have plenty of room to grow! And growing is what we are doing. I don't mean the plant type of growing although our farmers are certainly doing that...I mean our membership is growing. Last Saturday we were joined by the folks at Pennington Farm & Garden. And, this week we'll see another new face because the folks at Heavenly Homestead Cheese are about to make their debut at both market locations! Yes, it is going to be an exciting 2015 season at both markets!
Okay, so what will you find this Saturday...
