Bluegrass Farmers Market

Nothing but 100% Homegrown or Produced at our market!
(Lexington, Kentucky)

Saturday's Happenings at the Bluegrass Farmers' Market!

Well folks, it is with a sad heart that I write what might be my last market blog. I just want you all to know how much I have enjoyed being welcomed into your computers! I realized that I was spending more time on the farmers market and not enough on our farm business. All great things must come to an end and I have decided to resign as the “marketing person” for the Bluegrass Farmers' Market. I promise that I will still be around and yes, we will still be at the market each Saturday if it is not raining!

Yes, I still believe in our mission to provide nothing but homegrown goodness to our customers...I just need to spend more time on our farm. Thank you all again for inviting me into your homes for all of these years. It has been my pleasure and I hope to see you all at our market in the coming months.

Karin, your soon to be ex blog gal!

Now, on to the important stuff! So, what will you find at the markets tomorrow? Here's a list of the information that I have received from our farmers...they must be busy planting because it's a bit short. Look for much more!

LIQUOR BARN HAMBURG

Herb'n Renewal will be bringing their wonderful hand blended herb seasoning, hand crafted soaps and those crowd favorites...Zucchini, Apple'n Oat Thingies! Remember that if it is raining, they will not be at the market...the packaging does not like wet weather.

McMaine's Riverhaven Farm will be arriving with their freshly harvested Sugar Ann peas, asparagus, Salanova lettuce, maybe some Black Seed Simpson, kale, arugula (it may be the last of the arugula), some spinach, green onions, jams, jellies and baked goods. Their pepper jam is wonderful!!!

Kelly's Kobe Beef and Herman's Happy Hogs will have freezers full of freshly processed pork including breakfast links, sausage patties, country ribs, pork chops, and ham, as well as bacon. Don't forget that fabulous Kobe beef and the farm fresh eggs!

Tomatoes, Etc. will probably be bringing the last of their heirloom tomato and pepper plants tomorrow. If you want your own plants...get them now! The supply is limited!

Heavenly Homestead Cheese has said that they hope to be at both market locations tomorrow...great cheese is all I can say!

Jane's Garden Flowers and Herbs will be bringing her beautiful fresh cut flower bouquets, wonderful Jericho romaine lettuce along with a bunch of green and red leaf lettuce! Crunch is good!

Pennington's Farm and Garden will be bringing their beautiful flowers, herbs, cut parsley, dill and some crispy lettuce!

AZUR RESTAURANT & PATIO

Emnett Acres Farm will be bringing their tomato, pepper, basil and blackeyed susan plants as well as Canna lily roots. Also look for fresh spring green onions, crispy bok choy and leaf lettuce! Yum!

Clark Farm is hoping that the cold will not hinder their asparagus so keep your fingers crossed and hope they have plenty. Great news...strawberries! The supply will be limited so shop early! You might even find some kale, zucchini, broccoli and assorted dried peppers!

And, like I said...Heavenly Homestead Cheese just might make an appearance tomorrow!

****************

The Lexington Herald-Leader will be hosting a Community Yard Sale tomorrow from 8 until 1 in the Herald-Leader front parking lot at 100 Midland Ave. A portion of the sales will go to Bluegrass GreenSource! Why not stop by on your way to the market!!!
