Wow, it looks like the warm weather has sure helped our farmers crops! No, there is no corn...yet! Remember that we are a 100% homegrown farmers market and our local corn just isn't ready. But, there are so many other options available! Try something new...you might just discover a new family favorite. And, please do not be afraid to ask the farmer how to use something new to you.. They grew it, they know how to prepare it!
I will give everyone a bit of advise...if you are looking for a particular fruit or vegetable, shop early! Our farmers bring only what they have harvested from their gardens, hoop houses and fields so you won't find loaded crates from the produce auction houses as back up. Once an item is gone for the day...it is gonna be another week before you can purchase homegrown goodness! Speaking of which, remember that seasonal items like strawberries freeze beautifully with very little effort. In other words..get them while you can because it'll be a long winter! Lol Can't believe that I even mentioned cold weather other than I know how much we enjoyed our market bounty all winter long and I sure was glad that I took the time to freeze and can the spring goodies.
So, what will be available this week at our two market locations? Here's a list and who knows what else might show up in the back of a farmers truck...
