Bluegrass Farmers Market

Tomorrow promises to be a beautiful day! It's the perfect time to visit the Bluegrass Farmers' Market before the autumnal equinox starts on Monday, September 22 at 10:29PM in our area. Yup, fall is almost here! But, the great news is there is still plenty of summer goodness at both market locations. Maybe a last of summer feast is in order...how about some fresh corn, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, squash and green beans cooked on the grill. Add a burger, steak or maybe some chicken to that and you can celebrate the coming of fall. And, finish it off with a slice of watermelon...probably close to the last of the season. Talk about yummy!

And, yes...the fall items are starting to show up at the market. You'll be able to find mums, pie pumpkins, sweet potatoes, butternut, acorn and other winter squash and even chestnuts!

Life is good at the Bluegrass Farmers' Market! :) Don't forget that we are open through October...the last day for our 2014 market season isn't until October 25^th! And, as always our parking is always free at both markets!

So, what will you find this Saturday at the markets? Here's what the farmers have told me they would be bringing...

RICHMOND RD.

VALLEY OAK FARM will have farm fresh corn, tomatoes, butternut squash, sweet potatoes and peppers!

JP FOODS will be bringing their delicious Traditional and Bourbon Smoked Pepper Pimento Cheese...don't forget to try a sample...you'll be glad that you did! P.S. Think about using this on those grilled burgers vs. cheese slices!

KELLY'S KOBE BEEF & HERMAN'S HAPPY HOGS will be running a special on their 100% Wagyu Kobe beef 1 pound plus rolls for $5.00 each and smoked ham pieces for $3.00/pound. Think burgers on that grill or ham to season those green beans!

HERB'N RENEWAL will be bringing plenty of extra hand blended Chili Season'n...it's getting near that time! Karin has been a soap making fool and will have all sorts of scent options available and even some unscented. You'll also be able to find that crowd favorite...Zucchini, Apple'n Oat Thingies!

BOTANICA will be joining us for the first time this season with mums and other fall offerings!

BEYOND ORGANIC FARMS will have tomatoes, green beans, potatoes, squash, onions, peppers and even some cut flowers!

GREEN GARDEN ON COLBY will be loaded down with tomatoes and potatoes...and anything else that their garden has produced this week! They might even have some sweet taters!

ON TAPP DAIRY will be bringing their wonderful grass fed various cuts of beef, pork, veal, chicken, and farm fresh eggs!

MCMAINE'S RIVERHAVEN FARM will be arriving with tomatoes, a few summer squash, cucumbers, eggplant, the last of the watermelons, peppers, jams and jellies. They will also have pie pumpkins, butternut squash, acorn squash and a few other winter squash!

DOUBLE-DIP BEER CHEESE will have plenty of their Original Mild and Hot and also the Stout Mild and Hot beer cheese! Stop by and have a sample! Think tailgating!

JANE'S GARDEN, FLOWERS & HERBS will be absent from the market tomorrow but for a good reason...Jane is visiting with her daughter Molly and other family members!

AZUR RESTAURANT & PATIO

CLARK FARM will be bringing green and red okra, white and purple eggplant ,assorted sweet and hot peppers, sweet potatoes and a fall favorite... chestnuts!

SHELTOWEE FARM will be bringing their fabulous selection of mushrooms!

VALLEY OAK FARM will have farm fresh corn, tomatoes, butternut squash, sweet potatoes and peppers!

And, who knows what other surprises you might find at either market!

We'll be set up in the parking lot of our sponsors, Pedal the Planet and Fast Signs. It's just a hop, skip and a jump outside of Man 'O War Blvd. Parking is right there so you don't have to drive around hunting for a spot to park. The parking lot is also paved and that makes it very stroller and wheelchair friendly! And, we love seeing your four-legged friends!

Our farmers will be set up in the parking lot and possibly the patio of AZUR Restaurant & Patio. Beaumont Centre is just outside new Circle Rd. off of Harrodsburg Rd.
