It's my favorite time of the year, when our Summer Kitchen welcomes new canners who are excited about the prospect of filling their own jars with the beautiful colors of summer.
Our cannery, The Jam and Jelly Lady, was rated the Best Food Preservation class in the U.S., primarily because of the thoroughness of the class. Five hours (longer, if necessary, until all questions are answered) of water-bath and pressure canning. It's hands-on because everyone knows that students far more successful if they can roll up their sleeves and participate! To this point, we only accept 13 students in one class.
We've taught over 1,000 students over 24 years, and look forward to seeing many of them at our Boot Camp Reunion at our shop this summer.
