Borrowed Thyme Farm is offering full and half pig shares for the 2015 growing season. Our piglets are coming from Pineybuck Farm down in Vineland. The sow and her piglets are raised on pasture, (when there is pasture) and non-GMO feed. When the piglets arrive in April at our farm they will be permitted to free range a rather large paddock that has been planted with various legumes and grasses. We are growing a non-GMO, organic garden full of cucumbers, squash, tomatoes, cantaloupe, watermelon, pumpkins and various greens just for them. Strawberry Hill Orchards of Chesterfield will provide peaches, apples and pears. Fox Chase Farms in Southampton will provide the pigs mixed grains, ordered fresh just for me. When they reach approximately 300 pounds, hopefully around October-November they will be sent to Bringhurst. You then will decide how you want your share cut up. If you go to Bringhurst’s website you will see a cutting chart. The hanging weight on a 300 lb pig is about 225 pounds. The cost is $3.25 per pound hanging weight plus the cost of butchering which is about $200-$225. I will schedule when the shares are to be picked in New Egypt. They have to be picked up from me, the day I pick up from Bringhurst, I don’t have the freezer space to hold them. Once your deposit is down on your share it is your share, if you decide not to follow through with the payments, you forfeit any monies put toward your share. Share payments are due the first of every month. Checks made out to Borrowed Thyme Farm and sent to 24 Oakford Ave. New Egypt, NJ 08533 My email is denise.kamer90@gmail.com
