A FAMILY FARM ON A FAMILY FARM
(Providence, Kentucky)

The girls are asleep

Naptime is sacred in our house.

Farm life with a two year old and a 9 month old is something to behold.  Nothing is ever finished or complete.  Every project is in a stage of suspension because how can you say no to "one more book" or "let's go for a walk down the lane" because these are very short times indeed.  Wood shed to finish, garden to till, hay to be moved.

But, when it comes to naptime, everything stops and is still.  It is the only time that I really have to order items I need, check the tomatoes and pumpkins sprouting in the mudroom under a grow light, and look at the new heifers and cows for sale at the upcoming auction.  Heaven forbid the phone should ring, or a rooster crow too loudly.  I finally convinced the mail lady to just put large packages in my car instead of honking her horn for me to come out.  Mail time and nap time coincide, you see.

Naptime is when I will be making an attempt to write here.  So, don't expect a post very often.  Naptime for both girls at the same time, although always planned, is not always a likely occurance.  But for today, I can start this project and start writing again.

I hear the baby waking up.
