Spring is just around the corner. I love this time of year. We are busy starting seeds, ordering plants, and getting ready for this year's produce season. During February we put out our onion sets, order our sweet potato slips, start tomatoes in the greenhouse, await the first batch of warm spring-like days to put out the first collards, curly kale, Tuscan kale and red kale. We also put out the first lettuce and spinach plants. Of course all of these have to be tucked under fabric row covers, but before long they will be hardy enough to withstand the cool nights and warmer days of March.
