Time is a flying...

I have to say, I am a better farmer than blogger! Ha!

Despite the snow and ice working to accumulate on this gorgeous February day, the prospect of spring (especially in the hoop) gets me excited and pumped about the 2016 growing season! Seeds have arrived, most beds in the hoop house are prepped and waiting for baby seeds to love and nurture, seeding schedule lined up and lots of CSA members secured for the season. My interns are selected and pigs are on the list to order. The bees are still alive (so far!) and a new order of nuks in the shoot. I LOVE my job!

I have also recently been certified in 200 hours of yoga teacher training and am excited to be organizing a workshop series here at the farm this coming summer. I will be teaching 2-3 times a week locally also, so inquire there if you are interested in combining your food with some body movement and centering :)

 Happy spring thoughts ya'll!

Spring?

It feels like spring despite the snow that keeps trying to stick around. I know we are close when I am getting everything in order for the farm.

We ordered a huge load of compost from Wakenhut Gartens to be delivered tomorrow! A good portion of that 10 yards will go toward starting all of our tender transplants. Lighting and tables are coming together in the dear Michigan basement that once served as the root cellar and all the seeds are filed away waiting patiently to receive light and get to work!

The hoophouse loan and rebate have been submitted and we are gently crossing our fingers for both to come through - either way, we will have a hoophouse up and growing by the end of the summer. We plan to take our winter food to the indoor market in Jackson and have an email list serve for our CSA members and others. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for more information.
