The Harvest Farm

Spring is here again, or did we really have a winter at all?  We have been really busy this season working on closing in our hoop houses to give us more reliable temperature control for growing during the cooler months.  We have also added another green house to extend our seedling growing process this year.  We have been able to get a head start on spring and summer vegetable plants with this extra growing habitat.  We now have over 200 laying hens of different types, my favorites being the Bresse breed.  We are ramping up production from last year and adding lots of mature compost to our growing areas.  Automatic irrigation is going to help prevent  some of the problems we experienced last year with the drought here in Georgia. We added bees to the mix last year and that is another subject! They are more complicated than we thought, but the pollination was so much better.  Exciting times here on the farm at this time of the year.
