Local Resiliance through a Farmer, Rancher and Crafter Cooperative

Dear Farmers, Ranchers and Crafters of Siskiyou County,

My name is Bonnie Wood. I’m a botanist who has owned property in Siskiyou County since 1990 when my husband and I purchased a small ranch in Scott Valley where we hoped to raise our son and a market garden. Un fortunately it wasn’t until 2003 that we were able to relocate to our current home on 17 acers just off of the Easy St. exit in Yreka. Here my husband continued his work as a building contractor and I began teaching high school Science and Math throughout the county. Now over 20 years later I am a semi-retired teacher and grant writer, seeking a way to make our entire county more sustainable and resilient. For this reason, I would like to invite local, farmers, ranchers and Crafters to consider working as part of a food producer and crafter cooperative. This cooperative would have shared ownership with the food producers and crafters with the goal of expanding access to Siskiyou County customers and beyond.
