DeLauro Calls for Equality for Women Farmers
An important bill, brought to our attention by our friend Katherine W.
Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today introduced the Equality for Women Farmers Act. She was joined by Congresswoman Anna Eshoo (CA-14), an original co-sponsor of the bill, and by six women farmers who shared their stories of discrimination by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) simply because of their gender.

This is good news. I hope the cause gains the proper amount of support, because it is simply time to move on. The farming structure has historically been used for discrimination on a massive level, and it is a sign of a backwards country with a backwards system. Why is it that farmers, who engage in the rules of economics by definition while also engaging in manual labor, administration, etc. cannot get a fair shake? The USDA has a history of this sort of thing, but it never seizes to amaze me how deep this institutional corruption and prejudice runs.
I sincerely hope this legislation gains traction and can be signed by the President.
