We grow heritage boysenberries propagated from an original vine kept in the Boysen family for nearly 100 years. Hi, my name is Jeanette Boysen Fitzgerald and I'm the only granddaughter of Rudolph Boysen, who invented the original boysenberry through cross-pollination experiments in Napa, CA back in the 1920s. My husband, Tom, and I received and planted 24 starts from the original family boysenberry vine in 2017 and had the DNA tested by the USDA. Test results confirmed our vines are the only match to the original boysenberry out of 27 other varieties tested.
The astounding proof, however, is in our boysenberries' rich, complex flavor! You have to find out for yourself. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook, search Boysen Berry Farm. No reservations are needed, however, we do recommend coming early in the day to pick in the cool temperatures.
While we are not yet Certified Organic, we use organic growing practices.
