Willow Spring Ranch Montana is devoted to producing the healthiest, most mild and tender lamb available. Raised in the mountains of southwest Montana, our lambs grow quickly on rich, green summer pastures and their mothers' milk. That's it - never any hormones, antibiotics or chemicals - just good organic, grass-fed nutrition.
We concentrate on english and icelandic breeds of sheep, and have developed a careful breeding program. Our sheep are medium framed and very lean with mild flavor. We sell gourmet quality cuts to restaurants, caterers, select groceries, and also market directly to consumers in the region and nationally via the internet. In addition to the excellent meat quality, our sheep have great wool characteristics and provide a sustainable source of raw material for our felted rug designs and as organic fleeces for hand spinners. Our organic fleeces are processed into yarn by the exceptionally talented folks at Thirteen Mile Lamb and Wool Farm, an organic local wool mill.
The ranch is owned and operated by Katy and Richard Harjes. We feel strongly about maintaining a low-stress, natural environment for our animals. We practice non-lethal predator protection using livestock guardian dogs, and seek to maintain a balance between the agricultural and wildlife areas of the ranch. These practices are your guarantee that the meat our lambs provide is the very best for you and has the least impact on our environment.
