Soliphilia Farm in Greenwich, New York organically raises Freedom Ranger chickens. These French hybrid broiler birds are noted for their delicious flavor, good health, and suitability to sustainable growing practices.
Our chickens live on pasture after three weeks in the brooder house, and are fed only Green Mountain certified organic feed. We process on-farm in part because its less traumatic for the birds than transporting them to a facility, and also because this is part of our commitment to humanely raising and slaughtering the animals. This also ensures quality control throughout.
The farm has taken the Northeast Organic Farmers Associations (NOFA-NY) Farmers Pledge to demonstrate its commitment to the principles of the national organics, and will apply for Organic certification in 2015.
Weights average from 3.5 to 6.5 pounds.
Fresh birds available once a week, otherwise frozen.
