The Gardens of Black Rock

Our Gardens of Black Rock is a partnership of mutual commitment between our farm and our local community which provides a direct link between the production and consumption of food. Becoming a member creates a responsible relationship between people and the food they eat, the land on which it is grown and those who grow it. It makes a wiser and healthier choice of the food for you and your family.

At the Gardens of Black Rock, we look at the soil and the entire farm as dynamic living organisms. We believe that healthy living soil to be the basic necessity if the soil is to be preserved for generations to come. We strive to be self-sufficient and self-contained, avoiding any input from any outside sources. Family Farming to us is a balanced way of living,working and relating to All of the diversity and relationships in nature.

Our vocation to agriculture is based on good, healthy and balanced common-sense practices. It may be best described in today's terms as biodynamic permaculture.

We have been involved in Farming for all of our life, sustaining to improve the quality of our produce, the health of our land and that of our livestock. We Do Not Use any synthetic chemicals, pesticides, chemical fertilizers, growth hormones, antibiotics or any of those other processing of food with industrial nastiness that are out there coming from who knows where! All of our produce is grown naturally and chemically free. All of our livestock is free ranged and humanly raised to be healthy and naturally acclimated to their environment.

The Gardens of Black Rock are also unique in location. Our land lies at the highest elevation to the surrounding watershed. Our springs being the source for the headwaters. It is for this reason that our water and soil are ideal for farming.
