Started in 2009, City Roots mission is to produce clean, healthy, sustainably grown products while enhancing and educating our community about the benefits of locally grown food, composting, vermicomposting, and other environmentally friendly farming practices. On our 3 acre site we grow over 80+ varieties of vegetables, fruits and herbs, as well as raise tilapia, chickens and bees. Like any well established plant, City Roots is the product of people's hard work, dedication, and ability to see the worth of the vegetable in the seed. As Columbia's first and only in town sustainable farm, we are excited to be celebrating our first full year. To further our goal of providing fresh healthy food to our community, we are offering an opportunity for our supporters to become more involved with our efforts through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. Here is how it works: Interested consumers purchase a share in our CSA at the beginning of the season, and in return they receive a bag of seasonal produce each week throughout the farming season. By buying in advance directly from us, you know exactly where your food dollars are going. Like a tomato plant needs its trellis, we rely on your support. In our CSA you'll not only get the freshest vegetables in the neighborhood, but you'll be part of what's taking root in the city.
