Light Footsteps Farm is a small herb farm and permaculture learning center located in Chardon, OH. We are new to this location, but we have been studying sustainability, permaculture, and herbalism for over a decade. We plan to homestead this land while teaching classes about permaculture, sustainability, and herbalism. In addition, we grow herbs for sale and use in value-added products. In particular, we are interested in medicinal and at-risk plants.
We host WWOOFers and volunteers.
To us, herbalism is much more than using plants to replace pharmaceuticals. Instead, herbalism is an Earth-centered lifestyle that involves nutrition, psychological health, and spirit. Herbs can help us to maintain and regain health if they are used respectfully and in conjunction with other lifestyle modifications.
Similarly, permaculture is not just about organic farming, but can be seen as an overall lifestyle where one works with the Earth to obtain food, shelter, medicine, etc.
We hope to share these philosophies with our students and the people who use our herbal products.
In the future, we hope to host farm-to-table dinners, develop a farm stay, and have health clinics on our farm.
