Community Supported Agriculture is a way for you to directly invest in urban agriculture, as well as build a strong relationship with a farmer, while receiving part of the harvest weekly in return. Your financial support at the beginning of the season helps the farmer in buying seeds, soil, renting equipment, etc.
At Cosmic Gardens, we focus on biodynamic practices to ensure healthy soil, maximum flavor and diverse nutrients. A weekly CSA share includes 5-10 items ranging from - root crops, tomatoes, peppers, cooking herbs, tea herbs, medicinal herbs, specialty crops, leafy greens, etc. It is our goal to always create gardens with as many varieties as possible, because this is the way nature works. We strongly feel that growing different plants together creates a healthier environment and a healthier product.
In a lot of ways, becoming a CSA member is a micro investment into your farmer, the land and the community. Its putting your money into a vision of urban landscapes with integrated agricultural spaces. Its kind of a big deal. Im a little bias & of course, I want you to join our family - but in all honesty, Ill be happy if you join any CSA, because it supports the bigger picture that all urban farmers aim for.
Memberships are limited to thirty every year so that we can build a genuine relationship with individuals & families. In talking with other farmers, we have found that aiming for a high quantity of members devalues the experience and product. Members will receive an email weekly that helps keep you in the loop of what is going on in our gardens, how you can participate and any events we are hosting/collaborating on.
In addition to the heirloom fruits and vegetables, we will have other goodies available for pick up via Wildwood Market - kombucha growler fill ups, flower bouquets by Blooms, local & regional cheeses, etc. Often times we collaborate with other small businesses in order to create things out of our harvests - herbal products, spices, canned foods, etc. which are made available to our CSA members first.
