Welcome to Cross Farms. We are a family owned and operated farm situated in Leelanau Township just 2 miles north of the Village of Northport, Michigan. Our focus is to produce berries for the fresh market. We do freeze some of our berries and have them available throughout the year.
We grow our Saskatoon Berries on land that has been farmed for over 100 years. Originally a diversified family farm with a variety of crops and livestock, it was then converted to cherry orchard and remained in cherry production for over 50 years. We purchased the land in 2001 and spent 5 years rebuilding the soil. The many years of cherry growing had simply tired it out. In 2007 we planted Saskatoon Berry bare root seedlings (Northline variety) obtained from Paul Hamer of Okotoks, Alberta, Canada.
Our first crop in 2010 was approximately 300 pounds. Our 2011 crop was over 1500 pounds, and our 2012 crop was slightly less than 3000 pounds. Our 2013 crop was in excess of 5,000 pounds. Today we harvest in excess of 6000 pounds. Join us for U-Pick.
