New Earth Gardens is a Market Garden in Mount Vernon, WA, working alongside a men's (substance abuse) recovery home, which is part of Tierra Nueva (a Christian, ecumenical, non-profit). We grow with french-intensive practices and are dabbling in permaculture for longer-term sustainability. We are not 'certified' organic, but instead use practices which some term 'beyond organic,' as many 'organic' practices we've witnessed contribute just as much to soil erosion and oil dependency as non-organic growing practices do. French-intensive methods utilize mostly hand tools, lots of compost (real 'fertilizer'), less water, and can produce many more calories per acre than other methods of growing.
