Desert Sun Dates

Desert Sun Dates is a family date farm in Sky Valley, California, in the Coachella Valley near Desert Hot Springs and Palm Springs. The Coachella Valley grows nearly all of America's dates, and we grow ours the traditional way: palms pollinated by hand in spring, fruit thinned and bagged through the summer, and every bunch hand-harvested in the fall. We sort, pack and ship every order ourselves on the ranch.

We grow three varieties. Medjool is the large, soft, caramel-sweet date most people know, and we sell jumbo grade. Zahidi is a golden, semi-dry date with a mild, nutty sweetness that holds its shape in baking and keeps longer than any other variety. Barhi is a seasonal specialty, prized eaten fresh and crunchy in its yellow stage for a few short weeks each year; we keep a waitlist for it. Our dates are grown without pesticides and sold whole and unpitted, with nothing added: no sugar, no syrup coating, no preservatives. We are not certified organic.

We ship fresh, current-season dates anywhere in the lower 48 with shipping included in every price. Retail boxes run from 1 lb to 12 lb, and gift boxes go out with your note on top and no prices inside, which makes them a favorite for holidays, hostess gifts and client gifts. For restaurants, cafés, bakeries, juice bars, specialty grocers and caterers, we sell bulk Medjool and Zahidi cases from 24 to 100 lb, and quote pallets for larger orders.
