Earth Mates, Inc.

Earth Mates is newly formed (12/2017) nonprofit. Our mission is creating our own urban/small space edible farm, and encouraging others in urban setting to do the same. We believe people need to grow their own foods, chemical free, using sustainable agricultural practices. Our models for small space urban gardening include vertical gardens, elevated platform gardens, and trellised gardens. Although we do not want to minimize the enormous contributions that rural and distant farms and agricultural projects give to our communities, we feel we have an obligation to ourselves and our urban communities to develop ways to create our own foods within our own backyards and the available spaces around us. Economically and ecologically this seems like the best fit for city dwellers, reducing food insecurity, creating a closeness to our food and the cycle of life in general, and sensitizing our own and future generations to the magnificence of nature and the ability to sustain and feed ourselves, regardless of political, economic, or environmental climate. We would like to create a CSA from our small space urban farm area, and welcome anyone who would be interested in helping us obtain this mission.
