Red Planet Farm

Red Planet is a diversified "chemical free" vegetable farm located in Johnston RI, just 6 miles from downtown Providence. We began our business in 2004 as a year-round urban farm on Providence's West End, but have expanded our offerings and increased acreage every year since then. That said, we've never let go of the attention to quality and love for community that we developed on those urban plots. We grow a little of everything using only organic methods, though our farm is not certified, having just moved to a new location. We strive toward conservation and ecological balance in farming, so you'll never find an ounce of pesticide or a GMO seed on our property! On offer through the seasons: salad mix, kale, braising mix, arugula, spinach, scallions, shallots, onions, heirloom potatoes, heirloom tomatoes, a variety of sweet and mild peppers and chiles, various eggplant, lettuce, broccoli rabe, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, herbs, radishes, turnips, fennel, carrots, etc etc... We offer a "Main Season" CSA which runs June through November, and with two greenhouses and counting, we are able to produce greens and other produce through the cold months for a "Winter/Early Spring" CSA. Full shares are $500, half-shares are $250. We also take on "work-shares", for those interested in doing a few hours of weekly farm work in exchange for produce. Beyond the CSA, our farm does a busy restaurant trade, offering delivery of high quality produce through the Little City Growers' Co-op. You can also find us at the Armory Park Farmers' Market in Providence every Thursday June-October.
