Originally from the Shetland Isles, UK, Shetland sheep are a dual purpose, heritage breed and are prized for their hardy constitutions and lively personalities. The most noted attribute of the breed is its soft, fine wool, which is popular among hand spinners. The wool comes in a wide variety of colors, ranging from pure white to deep black, and is often dramatically patterned.
