What do you know about the store where you buy your food? When you buy local, you know your food on three levels. First, you know that your food will be fresh because it's picked at its ripest and doesn't travel far. Second, you'll know the food you buy helps support the community because we work closely with local farmers and ranchers. Finally, local foods require less fossil fuel to travel to your place, and we use recyclable materials and other sustainable methods to help reduce our waste. At The Planted Seed, we are committed to providing a place for local producers to sell their products. The Planted Seed has locally grown grains, beef, pork, poultry, bison, lamb, goat, eggs, breads, produce, raw honey, maple syrup, in addition to other specialty items made right here in Wausau, such as granola, authenic Indian meal kits, barbecue sauce and marinade. We also stock local dairy products that include milk and cheese. The Planted Seed carries a full line of bulk, staple items for baking and cooking such as flours, sugars, rice, whole grain cereals, nuts and decorative sprinkles.
