There's nothing quite like opening a jar of summer in the middle of winter. Join us at Sycamore Spring Farm for the Pickle & Tomato Canning Workshop , a hands-on introduction to preserving fresh, seasonal produce using safe, USDA-recommended home canning methods. Whether you've never canned before or you're looking to build confidence in your preservation skills, this beginner-friendly workshop will teach you everything you need to get started. During this two-hour workshop, you'll learn the fundamentals of both pressure canning and water bath canning , including when to use each method, food safety principles, proper equipment, jar preparation, processing times, and storage techniques. We'll focus on preserving tomatoes and exploring the basics of pickling fresh vegetables. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own customized jar of pickles using a selection of fresh vegetables harvested from the farm and a variety of herbs, spices, and flavor additions. We'll discuss how different ingredients influence flavor, texture, and shelf life so you can confidently continue preserving at home.
