French Broad Chocolate Lounge is our artisan chocolate and dessert restaurant in the heart of downtown Asheville, NC, where we are a part of a thriving food culture. We have been making our confections, the backbone of our business, since early 2007, and opened the lounge in February 2008. We are becoming increasingly proud of this growing operation. Every day, we touch more people with our delicious chocolates and desserts, and every day we derive great satisfaction from their rave reviews and words of appreciation. Direct and local trade is transforming our business. We now source berries, fruits, and other produce directly from western North Carolina farms; Homestead Creamery, in Burnt Chimney, VA provides our pastured butter, and soon, our cream! Many of our nuts are grown on family farms from Missouri to Nevada, and our maple syrup, from A&M Sugarbush in Amery, WI comes to us direct from the family that taps the trees. As an ecologically-minded, sustainable small business, we acknowledge an obligation to support organic agriculture, and even when our resources have traveled great distances, we must strive to ensure a fair trade relationship with the growers. The chocolate we use is processed domestically, though the cacao is sourced from growers cooperatives and estates from around the world.
