Getaway Homestead is a small, family-run regenerative farm in Grayson, Kentucky, in the heart of Carter County. Founded by Sean and Yaya, the farm grew out of a conviction that took root while they were living in Hawaii and growing some of their own food: families deserve to know exactly where their food comes from and how it was raised. Today we raise pasture-raised chicken and farm fresh eggs for our neighbors in eastern Kentucky, guided by our faith and a commitment to food sovereignty and local food.
Our meat chickens live on pasture and move to fresh grass every day, which keeps the birds healthy and builds the soil with every rotation. Every bird is fed Wholesome Harvest feed from Ernst Grain & Livestock, a non-GMO, glyphosate-free ration with no byproducts, and our laying hens eat the same feed. Our chickens are processed right here on the farm and chilled in ice water, never in chlorine baths. We will never cut corners on feed quality or on how our animals are raised.
We sell direct to customers within about 40 miles of Grayson. Orders can be picked up at the farm, and we offer free meetups in any area where 10 or more orders come in together. Frozen whole chickens are available while supplies last. In 2027 we plan to offer fresh chicken as well and join the Grayson Farmers Market, so join our email list to reserve your spot on the 2027 chicken waitlist.
Getaway Homestead is still growing. Pasture-raised rabbit is planned for 2027, followed by lamb, pork, and beef. We are also developing hands-on farm education, including butchering and parting-out classes and homeschool sessions, for anyone who wants to learn how good food is raised and how to raise it themselves.
