Description Home Grown: We Love Local Goode Food Delivered strives to provide quality food that is produced within, or as close as possible to, our hometown of St. Joseph, MO. The U.S. government defines local as:

(I) the locality or region in which the final product is marketed, so that the total

distance that the product is transported is less than 400 miles from the origin of the product; or

(II) the State in which the product is produced.

Bill Text - 110th Congress (2007-2008) - THOMAS (Library of Congress We strive to source our food as close to home as we can, with much of it coming from Goode Acres Farm in Wathena, KS, 15 minutes away, and the Jamesport, MO area, about 1 to 1.5 hours away. We also work with farmers, bee keepers, and a bread maker right here in St. Joseph. We believe in the economic and environmental benefits that eating local provides. Not to mention the health benefits-did you know produce begins to loose its nutritional value the moment it's picked from the field? Eating local food with Goode Food Delivered means your produce reaches you quickly after harvest, full of potent nutrients, and the antibodies to assist against local allergens. During winter months many farmers use hoop-houses. From time to time during the cold season, either due to demand or a desire to add variety to your box, we have sourced farther than our northwest Missouri region. But as our collective voice grows bigger, more and more of our local regional farmers are willing to plant and tend a winter crop. The more we, as eaters, support those local growers, year round, the more they are confident in investing themselves and farming for us year round. This beneficial relationship creates a stable food supply for the eater, a stable income for the farmer, and between them a connection through the shared appreciation of wholesome, local food. How it Works Participating in Goode Food Delivered is a weekly opportunity to have delicious, nutrient-rich food in your home. Have your order placed by 9pm Tuesday each week for end of week delivery, with no ongoing commitment. Box sizes are based on dollar value. They start at $20 and can be increased in $5 increments. Having guests in town one week order a larger box. Behind on eating your veggies another week order a smaller box. We believe that providing flexibility for our customers helps you accommodate having fresh healthy produce in your kitchen. Pre-ordered produce boxes consist of whatever is seasonally and weekly available for harvest off our network of farms. While we can't tell you what will be in your box week to week, we do our best to accommodate any specific requests, allergies, or dietary needs, which you can share with us in the Note section of your order form. Many customers have told us that receiving their weekly box is like vegetable Christmas they don't know what's going to be inside, but find themselves happy and excited when they open it. They've also said that having a bounty of food pre-selected for them helps them determine their menu for the week and try new things. At the very least, having fresh, nutrient-rich produce in your home each week means you are more likely to eat fruits and veggies, which a body loves. A box of Goode food is a great tool for a healthy diet and lifestyle!
