Habanera Farm, LLC is the first and only Maryland licensed tea producer. We grow our herbs following Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and dry and process our herbs according to Maryland's strict food processing regulations. Our dryer is solar powered and the quality of our dried herbs is fantastic. Due to our location we grow mostly herbs that enjoy moist low land, this gives us a huge range of medicinal (and often local) herbs. We also grow Aronia berries, elderberries and rasp berries. One of the owners, Henriette den Ouden holds a Master's degree in Herbal Medicine allowing her to create safe and effective teas. Our tasting group secures that all our teas are wonderful. The working herb and medicinal plant farm and retreat center is located on 21 acres in Tyaskin, MD, (Wicomico County, 15 miles northwest of Salisbury, MD.) Woodlands protected under the CREP program make up 8 acres of the property, with the remaining acres made up of working herb gardens, medicinal plant orchards, meditation spaces, wildlife protection area and paths. All visible from the 18th century farm house. The owners and caretakers of Habanera Farm, Henriette den Ouden and Chris Himmel, have created a beautiful place where wildlife has returned in multitude and where people are invited to enjoy the outside, tour the farm individually or with your special group, meditate, learn about nature and nature's rhythms, find solitude or gather together for meetings, weddings or celebrations.

Habanera Farm is creating teas for health and taste! We offer farm grown herbal teas with all herbs grown at our farm; teas as a combo of our herbs and other, organic and US small farm grown herbs; and we offer organic black and green teas. We would love to grow them in Maryland, but we are waiting for a little more global warming before we can do that. Habanera Farm also offers classes on herbs, health and nature and has clinical herbalist available for consults in person and by phone.
