DUCK FLATS FARM in central New York state raises Finnish landrace sheep, a heritage breed originating in Finland. This sheep is renowned for its lustrous fine wool that produces a soft itch free yarn. Their wool is collected each spring and processed locally into roving and high quality yarns. The colors in our flock vary from a creamy white through differing shades of grey to a deep brown lending the color to the resultant yarns. Our fiber and yarns have won multiple first place in various divisions, and best in show for all yarn divisions at various fiber festivals and breeder shows in New York and New Jersey. An added enterprise to our farm this year - 2013 - is WinterStar Farm beef. Our Texas Longhorn cattle are attentively raised with lots of room to roam in their secure pastures. Individually vacuum packed and frozen cuts available. Orders are to be picked up at DUCK FLATS Fiber Studio, 245 East Main Street, Elbridge, New York between the hours of 10 AM - 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Cash, check or credit card is accepted at time of pick up. Meat is frozen and vacuum packed; you may wish to bring a cooler for transport.
