North Wind Organic Farm is nestled in a mostly forested and hilly region of far northern Wisconsin, about 3 miles from Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. The farm emphasizes solar and wind energy, ecological decision making, self-reliance and beyond organic production of fruits and vegetables. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and an assortment of tree fruits provide the foundation for harvest from the summer solstice through freeze up. All crops are marketed locally through co-ops, farmers markets, a CSA, restaurants, and to farm visitors.
All of our vegetables and fruit are grown in accordance with organic standards, which means you'll receive produce without synthetic herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, fertilizers and plastic residues.
We minimize fossil fuel use by using hand tools, solar and wind energy, sequestering carbon in our soils.
Most of our crops are open pollinated and heirloom varieties, which preserve and enhance our seed heritage. Also, many of our less common fruits and vegetables we choose to grow are higher in antioxidants and minerals.
We offer pick your own opportunities and pre-picked berries, jams, jellies, and other unusual items at our on site farm store that is open every day during the summer.
