Briers Simmental Ranch is a beef cow-calf, seedstock operation. We raise bulls and heifers for breeding purposes. We also market steers for BEEF. Steers are raised on their mommas until 5 to 7 months of age. Then, they are weaned on a pasture adjacent to their mommas--lessens the stress of weaning. They are creepfed (supplemented) with feed from a locally-owned feedstore (Thomas Moore Feeds).
They remain on pasture--coastal bermudagrass and bahiagrass with feed supplementation until they are ready for harvesting--anywhere from 900 pounds to 1300 pounds--depending on customer demand for amount of finish.
Steers are never implanted (with growth-promoting additives) nor are they fed preventative levels of antibiotics. Some call this "natural beef." We just call it GOOD and HEALTHFUL!

Visitors encouraged! Short drive from Houston area, Bryan-College Station, or surrounding areas. Scales on premises. Local meat processor where animal can be delivered for harvesting and processing--or you can deliver to meat processor of your choice.
