Hiamonee Farms is a producer of specialty fruits and nuts, including citrus, brambles, and chestnuts. It was started in 2001 with the chestnut planting. Citrus were established in in 2010, and production was expanded to bramble fruits in 2016. Production also includes specialty crops in garlic, arrowroot, taro, loquats, and ornamentals. In 2018, the farm will begin an effort in U-pick operations. Trials are underway as experiments in growing bananas, pomegranates, turmeric, ginger, galangal ginger, and low-chill varieties of apples, pears, and plums. Our chestnuts are exclusively Dunstan hybrid chestnuts of the noted plant breeder Dr. Robert T. Dunstan, crossing the American trees with Chinese trees. Citrus plantings include a variety of types: juicing sweet oranges, navel oranges, sour oranges, kumquats, satsumas, tangerines, lemons, calamondins, grapefruits, and limes. We produce high-demand Page oranges, Glen navel oranges, Cara Cara navel oranges (technically a blood orange)and Ponkan tangerines. Bramble fruits are limited to thornless varieties.
