We are a permanent 501c3 charity promoting ultralow cost housing, edible landscaping, and renewable energy. When we started preparing to start this charity in 1997, no one--it seemed--was talking about how the working family could sustain itself with ever-rising costs for necessities of life. The co=founders had both worked in and against government agencies and realized many of the roadblocks to self-determination were BUILT by government. Therefore, we have often been opposing general policies that continue to build such roadblocks, like exclusionary zoning, laws against gardens and chickens in cities, subsidies and tax breaks for large corporations at the expense of the poor (and primarily our three goals).

Products and Crops

Currently we campaign against closing a 4-acre trailer park in Santa Monica, CA where citrus, stone, and vine crops grow to supply the 109 families who have lived there for 62 years. Instead--soulless five-story box of 400 condos/apts, none owned by occupants as the 109 current low-cost homes are. Also, there would be parking for 800 cars, not the 109 there are now. And the 100 remaining trees would go to chippers the way 100 already have, replaced by 20 decorative specimens in planter boxes.
