Defiance Farms

Defiance Farms is a small family farm at 2065 7th Ave in Chetek, Wisconsin, run by Joe Miller and his two sons, who are full partners in the work.

We raise heritage KuneKune pigs, a gentle, grazing breed from New Zealand, on pasture. Our focus is fat quality: firm, white fat from pigs that forage grass and roots and are finished on barley, apples and nuts rather than corn and soy. We're planting a silvopasture of hazelnuts, apples and cold-hardy pears with turnip strips so future pigs can finish under the trees each fall.

Our meat rabbits live in groups: does raise their litters together in rabbit tractors (moved across pasture in the grazing season), and weaned rabbits move to dirt-floor pens with deep straw bedding. No wire cages, no concrete.

- Rabbit manure, great for gardens and orchards (bring buckets)

Pickup is on the farm by appointment. Wisconsin buyers are welcome. Minnesota buyers, ask about the extra paperwork. We're glad to talk pigs, pasture and rabbits with anyone starting out.
