Heritage turkeys are rich tasting, more moist and flavorful than mass produced turkeys people are used to today! We have Fresh, All-Natural, Free Range, But have never been deprived of opened shelter with plenty of space for them. Also with allowance of grain 24/7 , so have never been food or fresh water deprived. Heritage Turkeys for only $7.00lb. These turkeys have NOT been frozen! These turkeys are not like others you may see on internet or elsewhere. Be aware anyone who claims full grown heritage turkeys at any less than 8 months old for slaughter have been caged. Eight to 12 months or more to get to full weight particular bird to achieve. These turkeys have never been caged, been allowed to roam the better half of 25+ acres of mixed woods and clearing fields back of property. This is a registered farm with the York county registry of deeds. But these birds are not primary so use of income, it is our private use birds, but have too many to possibly consume for one family. We have limited quantities so if you have any interest please contact as soon as possible to guarantee reservation of a bird in time for Christmas dinner. Call or email for details or reservation for one or more of these birds. We have both toms and hens upon request. Oh, almost forgot, these are bourbon reds which are top food critic's # 1 choice in flavor for heritage breeds. Don't be confused by all the marketing claims out there, I offer true heritage turkeys from Bourbon Red stock - not hybrids. These slow-growing breeds are known for their heavy breasts and dark, richly-flavored meat. They offer the traditional taste of turkey as it was generations ago. Raised for us here, these heritage turkeys are the genuine article. These Bourbon Red birds were the prized turkeys of yesteryear, but are sadly no longer common, having been largely displaced by Broad-breasted White turkeys in the last century. Unlike their modern cousins, heritage breeds grow at a slower pace, which is inconvenient for factory farms on a strict schedule. This slow, natural pace means that they eat more food, and cost the farmer more in the end. Heritage breed turkeys have dark feathers, which can result in noticeable pinfeathers in the flesh. And they are not as large as the modern birds, engineered to grow to enormous size (so large that they cannot naturally mate, unlike heritage birds, which can, and do, mate). Our heritage turkeys are raised on small farm, with great care and attention paid to their welfare. This translates to a superbly clean bird that yields a naturally firm and moist meat with authentic turkey flavor. If you believe, as we do, that a happy turkey is a tasty turkey, then a heritage bird is the one for your table. Don't support the genetically engineered altered oversized turkey factories that devote their time for only profit by growing their turkeys so fast that they cannot hardly move, not saying to any help the poor turkeys never seeing any kind of light till moments before they are slaughtered. And being so crowded in the darkened space disallowing any movement. To make things worse prior to their one and only transport they are quite often physically tortured and abused by immigrant workers that are employed. Research facts yourself and decide. I myself will not tolerate or support food industrial practices with such inhumane conditions.
