Ironwood Ranch LLC (previously Hares And Harrows Farmstead) started in the late winter of 2018, when we chose to start raising meat rabbits. Weeks later, vegetable seeds were ordered and we were accepted into our local farmers market. We grew delicious food and continued to learn all season long.

In 2020, we moved to a new property and found that it was far better suited for raising pigs. All of our pigs have acres of wooded pasture to roam. The only time they are inside the barn is when they first come to the farm is in the early spring. Inside the barn, they are given a large space to live while they are still young and while it's still cold outside. We only feed them organic, Non-GMO No-Soy feed. We raise Gloucestershire Old Spot/Berkshire Cross. This cross is great for its flavorful meat and wonderful fat content.

In 2022 we moved to our permanent location on 80 acres in Imlay City. Where we raise high-quality beef, pork and chicken that we sell and shares.

We care about our animals fat quality as much as we care about the quality of the meat! This is because fat is healthy and delicious when the animals are raised right.

While our pigs are outside, they help us to clean up the pasture. They have fresh forage all season long, as well as acorns in the late fall. The acorns have tannins that help keep the fat from going rancid while it stores. They are fed a custom organic grain feed that we mix ourselves to ensure that there is no soy in any of their feed. Having no soy maintains the fat quality because soy turns fat rancid and bitter. All of this work is done in an effort to help everyone utilize the entire pig.

Our cattle is grass fed on rotating pastures with a little bit of grain to get give it amazing flavor.

Our chickens are raised on grass and are fed organically whenever possible. (Make sure you ask if this is a huge concern of yours.) as

The Homesteader's Harvest Classes

The Homesteader's Harvest is a 2 day, on farm class! In it, we will cover how to properly harvest, process, and butcher a whole pig, along with the necessary skills we have learned to fully utilize as much of the animal as possible. Honoring the animal's life and sacrifice is of the utmost importance to us and we want to share our experience with you!

The class is offered on our farm in November. It is also available as a workshop hosted at your farm! Contact us for more information!
